Smartfren-ZTE Presenting the BSS & VAS Project for Smartfren Users

PICTURE_1June 28th 2011, Jakarta – Smartfren, today announces that Business Support System (BSS) and Value Added Service (VAS) project that enable them to smoothly migrate their services and subscribers have been completed. Using ZTE’s BSS and VAS, nowadays more than 6 million Smartfren’s users are able to enjoy the new and improved quality services from Smartfren. The recognition ceremony of project finalization by ZTE was conducted coincide with Smartfren and ZTE’s BSS and VAS media presentation at Istana Ballroom, Sari Pan Pacific Hotel, Jakarta.

After the synergy of PT. Smartfren Telecom Tbk and PT. Smart Telecom in last March 2010, the newly telecommunication service, Smartfren has faced some challenges in integrating their services and operation supports. The synergy of two existing systems without interfering the experience of millions current subscribers from both brands has required big efforts and time.

Right after the synergy, Smartfren appointed ZTE to help in merging the existing services and subscribers through BSS and VAS solutions. The BSS from ZTE which is part of Smart solution for wireless, OCS, Mediation, Self-care, CRM, integrated prepaid and postpaid and etc, has helped PT. Smartfren Telecom to manage the integration of business and operation supports seamlessly.

On last May 12th, 2011, ZTE has announced that CIO of Smartfren has signed the PAC (Provisional Acceptance Certificate) stating that ZTE has completed their BSS and VAS project for Smartfren. The project was conducted for only 12 months, creating several industry records in telecom project delivery. After the equipments arrived from ZTE on July 20, 2010, Smartfren and ZTE have successfully helped enabling services and subscribers’ migration to be completed on October 10, 2010; and Mobile-8 migration was carried out on December 20 the same year. The two operations carried out to enrich the experience of 6 million of Smartfren users and accelerate the commercial launch of more than ten of Smartfren’s VAS services to the market.

Rodolfo Pantoja, CEO of Smartfren said, “Together with ZTE, Smartfren has able to provide a reliable system to manage our operational systems such as billing, invoices, and many others. Using ZTE’s BSS and VAS, we are able to manage the migration of our services and subscribers seamlessly as well as to launch several new projects that will help and provide richer mobile experiences to more than 6 millions of Smartfren users today.”

Commenting on the completion of Smartfren’s BSS and VAS project, Mr. Chen Jiang, Managing Director of ZTE Indonesia stated, “ZTE has once again won customer’s recognition by its’ fast and quality delivery. The BSS and VAS project of Smartfren in Indonesia was very successful, especially in overcomes the tight schedule and difficult technical challenges. On this project, ZTE has created several new records: the shortest time to install the equipment, the shortest time to debug the equipment, and the shortest time to test the equipment. These operations were involved more than ten services and created the miracle of the smooth migration in a night just for one time”.
