The second line has strengthened Boral strategic commitment to develop Indonesia’s plasterboard market that grows around 15% per year. The second line facility is built in new land with total size of 56,000 m2, a significant improvement from the first line.
“We hoped with these new investment, we could provide better service to a highly prospective Indonesia market”, said Mr. Rick Ogden, Boral Gypsum Division CFO.
Most of the production volume in Cilegon plant will be allocated to supply domestic market. The second line production capacity will provide additional 30 million m2 plasterboard per year. In total Boral’s production capacity (Cilegon’s first and second line + Gresik plant) is 65 million m2 per year.
Generally, the implementation of safe work in the new facility has followed with Boral Safety Management System and Standard. The security fences with access door to machine area are connected/interlocked to the safety system to maintain the safe working environment for the workers.
“Essentially, with the development of this second line, Boral prioritizes quality, productivity, and sustainable cooperation among all stakeholders for Indonesian market,” said Xu Yan, President Director of PT Petrojaya Boral Plasterboard.
It is expected with the presence of the new production line in Cilegon, Boral will further maintain its presence as a leading gypsum board manufacturer in Indonesia.
