16 March 2015, Jakarta, Indonesia – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, has collaborated with China Mobile and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), to successfully demonstrate time-division long term evolution (TD-LTE) downlink three-carrier aggregation (3x CA), marking an important step towards TD-LTE CA commercialization.
This demonstration was conducted using ZTE’s TD-LTE eNodeB and evolved packet core (EPC) devices, based on terminals powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 810 processor with X10 LTE modem. Three 20 MHz carriers in the 2.6GHz time division duplexing (TDD) frequency band were aggregated, and the downlink data throughput rate reached 330Mbps. This shows that 3x CA is mature and can meets commercial deployment requirements.
CA is a core technology used in LTE-Advanced, which allows two or more carriers in the same or different frequency bands to be aggregated into one channel. This helps to increase peak TD-LTE cell rates in a multiple manner, effectively avoiding co-channel interference, improving TD-LTE network performance, more flexibly balancing loads between the primary cell and secondary cells and increasing network capacity. By using the CA technology, operators can provide mobile users with higher speed and more diverse service experience, better coping with the explosive growth of data traffic, and enhancing TD-LTE network competitiveness.
As the world’s leading LTE solution provider, ZTE continuously promotes CA commercialization and has achieved the industry’s highest TD-LTE cross-band four-carrier aggregation with 1 Gbps transmission, and TD-LTE 3.5 GHz four-carrier aggregation with 1 Gbps transmission. ZTE is committed to working with its partners to provide 4G network users with better experiences through constant technology innovation and application.
ZTE is a provider of advanced telecommunications systems, mobile devices, and enterprise technology solutions to consumers, carriers, companies and public sector customers. As part of ZTE’s M-ICT strategy, the company is committed to provide customers with integrated end-to-end innovations to deliver excellence and value as the telecommunications and information technology sectors converge. Listed in the stock exchanges of Hong Kong and Shenzhen (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), ZTE’s products and services are sold to over 500 operators in more than 160 countries. ZTE commits 10 per cent of its annual revenue to research and development and has leadership roles in international standard-setting organizations. ZTE is committed to corporate social responsibility and is a member of the UN Global Compact. For more information, please visit www.zte.com.cn.
