ZTE and Makassar City Government signed MoU
for Implementation of Makassar Sombere’ and Smart City
August 18, 2015, Makassar, Indonesia — ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, announced that the company is signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Regional Government of Makassar to establish astrategic partnership for smart city solution implementation in the city.
The MoU signing ceremony which was held on August 16th, 2015, initiates a good long term relationship between ZTE and Makassar government. In the agreement, ZTE and Makassar Government will focus on developing resources to improve the quality of public safety.
Public safety is an important element to keep social stability, economic growth and people’s well-being in the country. With the rapid urban development in cities, the crime rates, accidents, and public health crisis, will keep increasing. Those things become one of government considerations in terms of the urge of implementing smart city solution.
“In handling public safety, all security organization are seriously challenged to meet their mandates to protect lives, properties and infrastructures. With the implementation of smart city for public safety, public safety organizations can control and coordinate effectively in order to give the best service to society,” said Mr. Mohammad Ramdhan Pomanto, Mayor of Makassar City.
Under the rule of Major Danny Pomanto, the implementation of various of smart city solutions have been started, including city Wi-Fi and smart card that cover the administration of many government institutions. The objective of this collaboration is to support Makassar Government to create spatial comfortable world-class city.

The deployment of modern information and communications system is a strategic solution on which the Medical officer, police and fire fighter can coordinate each other to anticipate and overcome emergency situation and also enhance the ability to communicate between departments.,” said Mr. Yan Changzhi, Sales Director of PT ZTE Indonesia. “The ZTE integrates public safety system combines a whole set of emergency handling mechanism to deal with crimes, social instability, disasters, and other public safety matters.”.
Before the MoU signing ceremony, ZTE was showcasing their ZTE iCity Public Safety solution in Anjungan Pantai Losari, during the occasion of the first anniversary of the ruling term of Danny Pomanto and Syamsu Rizal (DIA), Mayor and Vice Mayor of Makassar, South Sulawesi. ZTE was also conducting a trial for one of their solutions, ZTE iLTEGoTa 4G, trunking communication solution that can provide a rapid, flexible, and effective wireless multimedia communications network, which can be used to improve urban public safety management. The solution is based on 4G LTE technology and can provide a high-speed data transmission capability of up to 100 Mbps in downlink and 50 Mbps in uplink. Therefore, it has upgraded traditional trunking services to a new level by integrating voice and video communications.

ZTE’s smart city solution application was awarded as ‘2013 Smart City Benchmark Enterprise’ by IDG (International Data Group) and ‘2013 Best Smart City Solution Provider’ award by China Cloud Computing Award (CCCA).
